Eleven monologues, three shows, one unforgettable experience. ‘The Vagina Monologues’ by Eve Ensler are coming to the Koninklijke Schouwburg on February 26, 27 and 28, 2013. The show is completely organised and performed by a group of young women of the Leiden University College The Hague.

2012 Vagina Monologues Leiden University College cast

‘The Vagina Monologues’ are based on interviews that Eve Ensler conducted with more than two hundred women from various countries and different backgrounds.
Shocked by the stories she heard, and United Nations statistics reporting that one in three women are subject to physical or sexual harassment during their lives, Eve Ensler created the ‘V-Day’ movement in 1998, with the aim of ending violence against women and promoting female emancipation.

STICHTING SARITA - the 2013 charity funds are raised for!
For this reason, all the proceedings of the show go to a local charity. The success of last year’s performance of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ resulted into a wonderful donation for Stichting Wende, a shelter for women. This year, Stichting Sarita, an organisation aimed at empowering women of diverse cultural backgrounds in The Hague, will receive the donation.

This must-see production is an enchanting combination of funny and light-hearted moments, harder and controversial topics, with a touch of tenderness that will leave an everlasting impression.
